Shawn Mendes' Handwritten Out Now!

Hey guys! I know I changed the theme a while back, but Handwritten came out fully on iTunes around 11 PM EST. There are lots of great songs on the album, including Life of the Party in acoustic. There's also a deluxe version that comes with 16 songs ($9.99) instead of 12 songs ($7.99.) I noticed my first post on this blog was about the song "This is What it Takes", which is on his album!

Throwback much? Although the lyrics have changed a bit, the song is so amazing and I was waiting for this day to come for such a long time! If you want to purchase his album, deluxe or regular, click the link(s) below!

Fun Facts About Soccer

Here are some cool facts about soccer.

1.) There are 32 panels on a traditional soccer ball, one for each country in Europe.

2.) Known as “soccer” in the United States, the sport is known as “football” elsewhere. But the game’s original name was actually “basket-ball” because the first goals were overturned wicker baskets.

3.) Soccer balls are slightly oval-shaped. But the checkered board pattern creates an illusion of a perfect sphere.

4.) A professional soccer player runs 48 kilometers, or 3.9 miles, in an average soccer game.

5.) In most countries, a soccer player’s uniform is called a “kit.” The cleats are called “hooves.”

6.) The national sport of Canada is soccer.

7.) Soccer was illegal in Mississippi until 1991.

8.) Soccer is the fastest growing youth sport in the U.S.

9.) There are 1000 activity changes in every soccer match.

10.) United States has more official soccer players than any other nation in the world - almost 18 million.

11.) In the 1990s, soccer was recognized as the fastest-growing college and high school sport in the US.

12.) Soccer is distinguished from rugby and American/Canadian football in that it is primarily played with the feet. Touching the ball with hands is not allowed.

13.) 4. The University of North Carolina has won an incredible 16 national championships in women's soccer since the first US college tournament in 1982.

Those were some fun facts about soccer.

My Weekend

I had a fun weekend. On friday, I went to skateland and it was the best. I went with Lupe, Laura, Ariella, Paris, and Daisy. Then saturday and sunday, I had a soccer tournament. We played 2 games saturday and 2 games sunday. Throughout the games I was put into my 2 main positions, striker and right-mid. The first game on saturday we won 3-0. We were off to a good start. The next game we lost, 2-0. I was tired, and my family decided to take me to Menchie's on the way home. On sunday morning, we headed out to Thousand Oaks again to continue the tournament. The first game we tied 2-2 and the last game we won 2-0. We were very happy with our results, we got 2nd place! We were only a few points away from being in 1st. I played very well and almost made some goals throughout the tournament. That was my weekend! This was probably boring to read but oh well, I have to blog.

Until next time,

10 Random Facts About Cats

For this blog, I'll be giving you some random facts about cats (I don't know what to blog about so why not?)

1.) On average, cats spend 2/3 of every day sleeping. That means a nine-year-old cat has been awake for only three years of its life.

2.) Cats make about 100 different sounds. Dogs make only about 10.

3.) Over 30% of households in North America own a cat.

4.) A cat can hear high-frequency sounds up to two octaves higher than a human.

5.) Every year, nearly four million cats are eaten in Asia. (HOLY CRAP!)

6.) A cat can jump up to five times its own height in a single bound.

7.)  Researchers are unsure exactly how a cat purrs. Most veterinarians believe that a cat purrs by vibrating vocal folds deep in the throat. To do this, a muscle in the larynx opens and closes the air passage about 25 times per second.

8.) Cats hate the water because their fur does not insulate well when it’s wet. The Turkish Van, however, is one cat that likes swimming. Bred in central Asia, its coat has a unique texture that makes it water resistant.

9.)  A cat’s eyesight is both better and worse than humans. It is better because cats can see in much dimmer light and they have a wider peripheral view. It’s worse because they don’t see color as well as humans do. Scientists believe grass appears red to cats.

10.) A cat lover is called an Ailurophilia (Greek: cat+lover).

I hope you enjoyed these random facts about cats (or not.)

Things I Dislike About School

There are lots of things I do not like about school. For time reasons, I will be listing a few of these reasons what I dislike about school and why.

1.) Homework. Homework is probably one of the worst things with school. After a long day of classwork, quizzes, tests, and lectures, we have work to do at home. The LAST thing I want to do is do more work when all I want to do is eat food and watch Netflix. Why can't we just make passing periods shorter and homeroom shorter to allow more time in class and not get homework?

2.) Pop quizzes. Although we don't get pop quizzes too often, when you get them, you are unprepared, surprised, and most likely will FAIL the quiz. I know teachers want to make sure we know the material, but isn't that what a test is for? Why else do people spend hours studying and asking questions before tests? The world would be way better without pop quizzes.

3.) The beginning of a semester. All of our grades have been freshly started, with nothing in them. But if you get one bad grade on something, it can drop dramatically. Even if it is 1 homework assignment, if you get (for example) 12/20 on a homework, your grade will drop down to a D. Not to mention it takes ages to get your grades back up once they got so down. Some teachers, thank god, don't put in one grade at a time in the beginning of a semester. They put in a bunch of grades all together, balancing out your overall grade. Don't we wish all teachers did this?

Well, those were some things I dislike about school. Feel free to comment down below some things you don't like about school, or if you agree with what I have to say.

Until next time,
